• Focus on more preventative measures: youth programs, mental health services, community policing, and restorative justice.

• Expand the violence interruption/intervention models; fund nonprofits.

• Address root causes: poverty, unemployment, under-investment, poor housing conditions, which correlates with crime.

• Ensure police accountability and transparency: civilian oversight, data on stops, use of force, etc.

• Support gun safety measures, but also address illegal gun markets, trafficking, etc.

• Incorporate public health approach: treat violence as epidemic; mental health, trauma care, and support for victims.
