Economic Development & Infrastructure

  • Ensure that infrastructure investments also generate local jobs, hiring from the district; enforcing prevailing wage, support in union labor.

  • Support small business development: grants, low interest loans, technical assistance, especially minority- and women- owned businesses.

  • Promote workforce development: vocational training, apprenticeships, reskilling programs, especially for high growth sectors (green jobs, tech and health)

  • More aggressive climate investments: green infrastructure, resilience (especially for coastal areas in the district), adaptation for flooding, sea rise level.

  • Incentivize mixed-use development, transit-oriented development that is affordable.

  • Tax reform or incentives: reduce burden on low/middle class income residents, ensure that economic development benefits are not overly captured by large developers or outside investors.
